Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) has its history traced all the way back to the Western Learning School of Shanxi Grand Academy (1902), which was one of the three earliest national universities in China. With the tradition and development of over 100 years, TYUT is now a university with the integration of engineering and science & technology, and with the coordinate development of multiple disciplines. It is a university that is included in the “Project 211” – the national higher education promotion program for 100 top universities in China in the 21st century. TYUT has four campuses with an area of 3201 Chinese MU, i.e. 528 acres. There are 77 undergraduate programs, 126 master degree programs, 49 doctorate programs and 11 post-doctorate research centers.

I POSITION

II REQUIREMENTS
1. The applicant is diligent and willing to be devoted to the educational cause, and is democratic when working with others.
2. The domestic applicant should have professorship, a doctorate degree and the qualification for supervisor of PhD candidates. The overseas applicant should be at least an associate professor or a researcher (or equivalent title) at international well-known research institutions. The member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Changjiang Scholar professor (or guest professor), the member of “Thousand Talents Program”, the member on “New Century Talents Project” or professor on provincial major projects for talent development will be preferred.
3. The applicant should
★ have knowledge about the objective for the discipline and talent cultivation in the field;
★ have international strategic perspective and innovative way of thinking on the discipline development;
★ be equipped with skills centered around leadership, communication and interpersonal relationships;
★ have experience of administration in higher education institutions or research institutes.
Notes: Those who were or are currently holding a position of vice dean in a college of a university, or vice director of a research institute in China, or head of the department of a university abroad will be preferred.
4. The applicant should work fulltime when employed. The HR and party relationship and related documents of the domestic applicant should be transferred to TYUT.
5、The applicant should be in good health and under 50 years old. The requirements for the exceptional talent can be adjusted moderately.
III RECRUITMENT PROCEDURE
1. Sign-up. The applicant is requested to fill in REGISTRATION FORM FOR DEAN RECRUITMENT OF THE COLLEGE IN TYUT.
2. Qualification examination. The Personnel Department of TYUT organizes evaluation committee to examine materials of the applicants.
3. Interview. Based on the suggestions from the evaluation committee, qualified applicants need to attend an interview held by TYUT. The travelling expenses between the applicants’ residence place and TYUT campus are covered by TYUT.
Materials the applicant should submit for the interview are as follows:
★ The original and photocopies of ID card, degree certificate, academic qualifications, and part-time professions etc. Originals will be returned after the examination on the spot;
★ Other documents that can certify the academic level of the applicant;
★ Work plan for the position.
TYUT promises that all the materials and documents of the applicant will be kept confidential, but the application materials and documents will not be returned.
4. HR and party examination
Based on the proposed list of the candidates provided by the Personnel Department of TYUT, the candidate that excels will be chosen for the position. Accordingly the HR and party examination will be carried out and the employment announcement will posted.
5. Medical examination
The health condition of the applicant should meet the requirements of Standards and Measures of Medical Examination for Shanxi Teacher Applicants.
6. Official employment
TYUT signs an employment contract with the accepted applicant, and employs him or her according to Cadres Employment Procedures.
IV EMPLOYMENT TERM, PAYMENT AND WELFARE
The first employment term is four years with the first year as the probation period. After the first term, based on the evaluation results and with the mutual agreement, the employee can continue to work as dean of the college or expert of the related discipline.
